The downside of the Konshens concert

With thousands turning up for the Konshens concert at Ngong’ Racecourse, Nairobi, last weekend, the event’s organisers were forced to allow the crowd in without tickets as security fears and a stampede became real, Pulse can reveal. The crowd estimated at 10,000 people was uncontrollable and at some point a section threatened to force the security barriers in to access the show. This was, arguably, the biggest crowd witnessed in a Nairobi event lately. But what is interesting is that besides Konshens making a good account for himself with a good performance, local acts The Kansoul, Ochungulo, Bensoul, Nviiri and Chris Kaiga were the crowd pullers in a new game changer move that is being witnessed in the local entertainment scene.

As opposed to what happened in the past, Kenyan singers are becoming a favourite among local fans even when big time international stars are in town
